The rooms at The Edward Hotel are absolutely lovely! The premium bedding made me feel like I was sleeping on a cloud, and the laptop-friendly workspace was perfect for catching up on work. The free WiFi and air conditioning were great bonuses too. the room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, and I felt right at home.
The only thing I didn't love about the room was the bathtub/shower combo. It's just my personal preference, as I find it a bit inconvenient.

Totally a great experience. A huge variety restaurants to eat close by, like Ocean Basket that was only 5 minutes' walk away. Good base for a weekend in Durban.

I recently stayed at The Edward for a weekend getaway. The room was spacious and the included breakfast had a great selection. The reception staff, Thabane and Thando, were incredibly helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable. The air conditioner worked well, the linen was clean, and the lights in the room were perfect. Special mention to the helpful porter, Siya. it was a warm and luxurious stay.
I do recommend this hotel.

Staff were always helpful and attentive. Good sea view from very spacious and light room.
As a single traveller I was always being told not to go out on my own - it felt like prison after a few days.

I recently had a delightful stay at a hotel right on the beach in a bustling area. The value for money was excellent, with reasonable prices and attention to detail throughout my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that all my needs were met. The rooms were well-equipped with all possible amenities a guest could think of, including a decent Wi-Fi connection. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, though I would have appreciated some chicken choices as well.
All aspects of this hotel were satisfactory.

An excellent hotel with good Concierge and Front Desk, however, the service level in the restaurant was lacking. The evening service was okay, but there seem to be too many Managers and too few staff attending to guests. The young staff at breakfast were clueless and no coffee was being offered. I had to request coffee on a few occassions and the first time it was cold as they were just keeping the flask at the back of the room without offering any around to the guests. A pity as this is a very lovely hotel and Management could train their staff better.
To quote the phrase "Too many Chiefs and no Indians", - too many staff walking around doing nothing and many talking amongst themselves. The young staff are far too loud for this kind of hotel and should be taught that you do not chat and giggle throughout the service period of breakfast. It is a superior hotel, but unfortunately the staff are not properly trained. Also the loud shouting and chatting at the front desk is not acceptable if this is supposed to be a 4 or 5 star hotel.

Clean rooms, delicious breakfast, beach front, great sea views, approachable staff, comfortable bed.
Nothing for me.

I had a great overall stay at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The rooms were comfortable, neat, and clean, providing a cozy retreat during my trip. The location of the hotel was convenient, allowing easy access to the places I needed to visit. The cleaning staff did an excellent job, ensuring a pleasant and hygienic environment.
One specific situation during my stay was that I had requested a microwave, but unfortunately, it was not arranged for me. However, the staff made up for this inconvenience by providing an upgrade and complimentary breakfast.

The room service from your kitchen is terribly slow and every time that we ordered coffee it took more than a hour and we receive the coffee ice cold and we did complain at the reception the day when I booked out the said I must pay r3500? Rand and the have only received 2 payments, I gave them copies of my payments and the hotel ows me money that was very embarresing and I feel that kim should have sorted it out as I have asked her on the 15th april for a statement and on the 17th it was not sorted out!!!!!

We loved being so close to the beach - the golden mile was right on our doorstep! The room had a beautiful view of the sea and the breakfast selection was excellent. The staff were friendly at all times and even upgraded us to a suite without charge.
The bathroom wasn't as clean as we would have liked, with hair on the basin.

The recent refurbishment is splendid. The service was good. We were originally given a room that had a very strong smell of paint which even irritated our eyes. We mentioned this to reception and we were moved to another very pleasant suite. We were delighted with this. The staff are polite and the hotel is spotlessly clean.

The Edward hotel offers excellent value for money. The prices are affordable, making it a great choice for budget-conscious travelers. The staff pays attention to detail, ensuring that all your needs are met. The hotel's location is ideal, right in the heart of the bustling area, and just steps away from the beautiful beach. The rooms are well-appointed with all the amenities a guest could ask for, including a balcony to enjoy the views.
The hotel could improve on the breakfast options; it would be great to have more variety, especially for vegetarian guests.
